Context & contribution
Sprintla connected document preparation with a print shop's printers. Students could prepare their files from their own devices instead of waiting to use the shop's PC, while shops could receive jobs through the system.
- Built a cloud-printing workflow for uploading and previewing documents from a mobile phone or laptop.
- Integrated shop printers so pending print jobs could start automatically once the shop opened and the printer was running.
- Supported server-side conversion of Word and PowerPoint files for printing alongside PDFs.
The judgment I carry forward
Document preparation and printer operation needed to connect in one workflow. Letting students check their files ahead of time reduced their dependence on the shop PC, while printer integration carried the job through to paper.
Outcome and scope
The product worked, but demand density and shop distribution remained challenges. I later continued as a technology advisor through 2019.
I built the product in 2016–2017 and continued as a technology advisor through 2019.
